| | | Makins hats are "handmade", one at a time in their factory in New York city. They began production in 1974 using a jiffy steamer, and molded the raw hat bodies over wood blocks. The hats were then baked and dried in a home oven. Now more than 35 years later, they are in their 3rd New York City factory. They still make all their hats by hand, one at a time, using steam to mold the straw and felt bodies over the wood blocks. Makins take great pride in making the finest hats available. Makins hats are soft, flexible, easy-to-wear-hats that people feel good in.
